A: Hey!
B: What?
A: That is so rude. I am just saying hi to you.
B: What?
A: I am not talking to you if you keep saying that.
B: Ok. How are you?
A: I have been trying to figure one thing out.
B: Like what?
A: stop saying what. I have been trying to figure out a game to play with a friend.
B: Yes, that sounds nice. How about Phoenix Wright, a super cool court game. Ghost trick phantom detective, another fun puzzle game by the same creator for Phoenix Wright and baba is you which involves pushing some boxes, but it is quite challenging and fun!
A: uhhh what language are you speaking in? I don’t understand
B: How about final fantasy? It is a super fun action packed role playing game! There is a team of characters that you can switch between and each has their unique abilities.
A: Hmm sounds cool. I have never heard of it before.
B: What!
A: Stop saying what my god.
B: But how can you never heard of Final Fantasy. There are 16 of them in total and each have their own storyline. Definitely one of my all time favorite.
A: mmm, I can watch you play that sometime.
B: Yes you definitely should.
B: Okay so what kind of games do you play then?
A: Mind games?
B: What kind of mind games?
A: Like algebraic manipulation does it count?
B: I mean games. Like what is your style?
A: Uhm Freestyle><
B: What kind of style is this?
A: You know, I adapt based on the problems.
B: How about this? What is the genre?
A: Let me think. I would say puzzle.
B: hmm Finally, we are getting at something. Oh no. You don’t mean doing research and solving research problems right? That is not a funny joke.
A: But I don’t play a lot of games. And I want to know what makes you love to play games.
B: Gaming is a way of life. You see, you live life and the only way to live your life to the fullest is to take control of it.
A: Yes.
B: But life is too chaotic. And in games, you are often the protagonist and you learn through games to get back into control of your goals in real life.
A: That kind of make sense. So games are means to an end for you.
B: I think games also encourage creativity and independent thinking. You can learn to have fun and explore when you play games. But work is often too intimidating, it can be scary, and you can end up only trying to imitate the best of works but not express yourself in your work. You see, when you are writing an essay or drawing an artwork, what people often do is to check out the best prose or the best painting, what they forget in this process is to have fun and express themselves.
A: But learning from others is also pretty important.
B: Still, you don’t want to live in other’s shadows. The best work only comes when you believe in yourself and think up your own ideas.
A: Indeed. Otherwise you are just an imitator.
B: Yes what is more lacking in this world is originality and the art of creating your own universe of ideas. I think gaming encourages you to do that.
A: Maybe it does. I will have to try some games for myself to see if that is really true.
B: Indeed you should. Why don’t we go and check out the arcade today. And see if there is any games that you like?
A: That sounds so fun. Sure I would come along.
B: Let me call up a few friends too!
